GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all the functions of the buildings and maintenance tasks for a Tri County area in the southwestern region of Camino Real’s service area.  Performs or oversees vehicle maintenance work.  May assign and supervise the work of others.  May serve in the capacity of the key agency representative (as assigned by the Executive Director) in any process involving the acquisition, construction, renovation, or rental of agency building space.  Develops and implements a plan that ensures agency buildings function properly and as intended.  Implements a preventative maintenance program to keep buildings and fleet in a good working condition.  Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the agency’s motor vehicle fleet.  Ensures facility plans for building cleaning are implemented consistently and effectively.  Ensuring work is performed in accordance with applicable policies/procedures, standards, rules, regulations, and laws.  Work is performed with independence and is reviewed by a supervisor in supervision for soundness of conclusions and recommendations made.  Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.  On-call to respond to emergencies as indicated/assigned.  Must be able to work some late hours and an occasional weekend if assistance is needed at the Residential Unit.  All employees must participate in Trauma Informed Care Training.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
  • Ten (10) years’ direct experience in the area of safety, facility or building maintenance or fleet maintenance.  A minimum of three years’ supervisory experience is required in either safety, facility/construction management, janitorial service, or supervising work crews.
  • Applicants must receive a favorable background and drug screen results that meet agency guidelines.
  • Applicants must be able to use a computer to complete training.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • US work authorization in the United States (required).

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) years working in a facility or fleet department.
  • English/Spanish skills; demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems across the Camino Real Community Services system and within the department, develop viable solutions and ensure long-term implementation.
  • Broad working knowledge of general building systems, construction, and equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks.
  • Ability to plan, maintain coordination and ensure supervision of departmental activities at various sites/locations.
  • Strong working knowledge of safety practices, and ability to help create/modify and enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance protocols for all buildings, vehicles, and related equipment.
  • Ability to deal effectively with other staff/departments to problem solve and implement corrective actions/processes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable HHSC Standards and Rules.
  • Ability to supervise personnel and direct the staffing of departments.
  • Ability to work within departmental budgets and monitor expenditure.
  • The ability to maintain work order costing system, complete work orders in a cost-effective, timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of construction and renovation, and complex building repairs.
  • Ability to identify and analyze trends.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to keep records and accurate reports from a variety of information.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive and accurate reports and summaries in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage and direct multiple tasks/assignments at the same time.
  • Ability to develop training curriculums and conduct training related to safety.
  • Must have ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and ability to work in a stressful environment.
