GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Camino Real Integrated Behavioral Health Consultants (BHC) are relied upon to deliver the full range of services in a fast-paced environment that gets better physical health services for CRCS consumers and also arrange/deliver improved behavioral health interventions for persons who are provided physical health care by medical clinics and physicians partnered with CRCS. BHCs are responsible for direct services to clients in integrated health care settings where physicians refer persons for Behavioral Health Services. BHCs are trained and prepared to provide brief interventions and consultations for symptoms that are behavioral/psychological in nature as well as for health conditions where behavioral or psychological elements are key contributors or components of the patientís health condition(s) or overall wellness. Service delivery as a Behavioral Health Consultant requires a solid foundation academically and experientially with application of behavioral science principles and of the principles and practices of Psychology as a science and a profession. BHCs must be familiar with applied behavioral science and with evidenced-based practices in Psychology. BHCs are required to document work daily utilizing agency approved software. Administratively, reports directly to a specified supervisor within the overall CRCS system and is guided and mentored by the senior CRCS staff person in the same professional specialty as the employee themselves. Constantly exercises vigilance in maintaining confidential files and reports. Travel between sites required and must work within agency specified productivity standards.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masterís Degree in counseling or social work and must have & maintain a current license in good standing in the State of Texas. Must be licensed as an LPC, LCSE, or LMFT.
  • Must be able to be credentialed through various insurance panels.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • One (1) year of experience working with in the area of substance abuse.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals, individuals and groups, exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment when dealing with people, prepare reports and recommendations for administrative use.
  • Knowledge of individual needs/characteristics associated with mental illness. Extensive knowledge of service delivery system and case management delivery system.
  • Skill in interviewing and assessing treatment needs of persons served.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to plan and implement consumer services.
  • May require abilities to supervise the work of others, to interpret program methods and procedures and to provide guidance to other staff.
  • Must have ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and ability to work in a stressful environment.
