GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The MCOT Caseworker I provide mobile crisis outreach services such as Crisis Response, Crisis Assessment, Crisis Screenings, assistance with inpatient hospitalization, in-home support services on a rotating schedule. Coordinates links, and provides follow-up intervention services to persons in crisis. The QMHP will provide services in a variety of settings to include home, community, school, jails, hospitals, etc. This position requires extensive local travel, the ability to work changing shifts to include evenings, some weekend coverage, rotating days off, and be available to work overtime. Camino Real will provide pager and cellular phone. Complete documentation as required. Required to be on-call on a rotation basis and able to physically respond to the crisis within 1 hour or less to safe locations within Atascosa/Frio/LaSalle & McMullen Counties. Clinical supervision will be provided. Position may require use of personal vehicle and must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some weekend duties. Will perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of Camino Real Community Services.
- Completes assessments for mental health and alcohol or other drug clients. Assessments include risks assessment, ANSA, and PHQ9.
- Makes appropriate recommendations for level of care using the CANS/ANSA..
- Assesses and prioritizes clientís needs, plans treatment objectives and time frames, and completes clinical intervention using both individual and group modalities. Service may be required to be rendered at any safe site or in the community.
- Assesses potentially dangerous situations and takes appropriate precautionary measures to assure client/worker safety.
- Performs appropriate clinical interventions and/or brief treatment around well-defined issues that can be dealth within a specific time frame.
- Completes referrals to hospitals, counseling/treatment agencies, community support providers, other specialized services, etc. based on clientís level of care, DSM criteria, economic and cultural background.
- Assure adequate, accurate and timely documentation.
- Makes non-crisis referrals for specialized services to other community resources, and schedules appointments.
- Maintains at least 3.5 hours direct service time each day.
- Will complete all other duties as assigned to meet the needs, goals and objectives of CRCS.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelorís degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in social, behavioral, or human services, plus three (3) years paid work experience performing case work or case management duties.
- Must meet QMHP qualifications.
- Applicants must live within one hour from the Atascosa/Frio/LaSalle & McMullen Counties due to crisis response time requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish.
- Prior working experience with a community mental health center.
- Prior experience providing LCDC, crisis intervention services and on-call services in a behavioral health setting.
- Reside in Atascosa, Frio, or LaSalle Counties.

- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals, individuals and groups, exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment when dealing with people, prepare reports and recommendations for administrative use.
- Knowledge of local community resources, how to access those services and use them effectively.
- Ability to advocate effectively for an individual in the target population.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of social work and chemical dependency, the functioning of mental health hospitals and/or out-patient mental health clinics and schools.
- Ability to relate to clients with a variety of age, sex, economic, educational and professional background.
- Ability to apply and integrate theory, knowledge, values and practices of social work and/or counseling profession.
- Ability to engage in problem solving process.
- Ability to understand, articulate and apply the dynamics of chemical abuse and dependency.
- Demonstrate skills in the use of personal computer to record client data, written documentation of client assessments and interventions, correspondence or reports.
- Ability to interpret and assess data.
- Working knowledge of the DSM-IV.
