GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for providing peer support and to actively support and encourage referral to the Veterans Administration and other agencies that may provide behavioral support to veterans in local communities in the assigned service area. Also, responsible for facilitating support groups upon completion of approved training. Must develop a group of volunteers who can facilitate support groups in the local communities and raise awareness amongst other agencies, community groups and policy makes about issues related to veterans returning from deployment/war. Also must work closely and effectively with all support and referral agencies (e.g., County Veteran Service Officer, police, social services, LMHA, Housing, etc.) to ensure the aims of services are achieved. Collaborates with other social services providers to avoid duplication of services, maintains, and effective information and referral system, and increases community resources available to LTRC clients, and is proactive in assisting clients in accessing resources to meet identified needs (e.g., legal, emotional, social services and housing. Complies, reviews and reports weekly on all outreach and coordination and group activities. Completes all record keeping requirements and occasionally supervise he practice of volunteers. Must attend internal and external meetings as directed and participate in regular supervision meetings with supervisor, comply with all Camino Real policies and procedures, carry out other duties as needed, and work flexible hours and travel through service area as needed.
